Iris Claw Implantation. A Pause before You Begin. The Tips and Tricks for Safe Implantation!
This IC explains detailed techniques, tips and tricks of iris claw insertion. Iris claw intraocular lens (ICIOL) implantation is done when the posterior capsule (PC) is inadequate. Retropupillary ICIOLs are indicated in cases with insufficient PC or zonular support, as in complicated cataract surgery where the IOL cannot be implanted in the ciliary sulcus, and anticipated insertion is planned in ectopia lentis, pseudoexfoliation syndrome and ocular trauma. We will discuss preparation before iris claw, the do's, how I do it — the OG technique — and a bouquet of claws to the rescue, to teach everything you need to know about the iris claw.
